Maddie is a busy 39-year-old preschool teacher who lives with her husband and 10-year-old twin sons. Maddie has just been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes so she is still learning how to manage her condition. She has been good at remembering to record her daily values but she misses some intervals during her busy day. Maddie also gets overwhelmed with the task of interpreting the data her technology collects because her time gets taken up by her work and being a mother of two. Maddie sometimes finds herself neglecting the management of her condition.
Cal is a retiree who lives alone and has been living with diabetes for 52 years. He is quite familiar with the task of managing his condition and has learned how to interpret his values but he is not proactive and tends to forget to schedule appointments with his endocrinologist. Cal is also slightly on the messier side and sometimes loses his logs where he records his data.
